Twitter : Announcing the removal of the option to 'block' someone on Twitter |
The feature to block any unwanted account from the micro and blogging website X (formerly Twitter) is being removed.
X owner Elon Musk, who has already made controversial changes to the application and faced strong criticism from users, has now recently announced a major change to X.
On social media apps, users who want to avoid indecent content or don't want to see harassing or hateful content on their timeline, block such accounts, a block option is provided to them. Avoid trouble. But now Elon Musk has announced that the X-to-Block option is being removed.
He briefly stated on his social media account that 'Block is being removed as a feature, however the block feature in messages (DM) will not be removed'.
Elon has not given a reason for removing the block feature from X, but he has stated that the mute function will remain on the platform.
The mute function currently only blocks notifications of account posts, however accounts you've muted can still see and reply to your posts.
It is also worth mentioning here that it is not yet clear whether all the blocked accounts will be automatically unblocked or they will remain blocked if the block option is removed from the platform.
